Cost Capybaras cost between $1,500 and $3,000 from reputable breeders. They should always be purchased in pairs as solitary capybaras become depressed.
Space Requirements Capybaras need large outdoor space â a minimum 12x20 foot outdoor enclosure with a pool or pond. They are semi-aquatic and must have access to deep water for swimming daily.
Diet Primarily grass. They are grazing animals and should have access to fresh grass, hay, and vegetables. They also require a salt lick and fresh water at all times.
Temperament Well-socialized capybaras are remarkably docile and friendly. They are herd animals and MUST have companionship â either another capybara or regular intensive human interaction.
